I was recently contacted by a former student, Jessica Phelps, about an available position for a technical writer. Jessica works at Hitcents, a software development company here in Bowling Green, and Hitcents is seeking a part-time or intern-level technical writer. The job would include, in the short term, writing documentation for an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system which is currently in development. In the future, the person in this position may write an instructional manual for the same system. Applicants do not necessarily have to be familiar with ERP systems already. However, they should be able to talk to computer programmers, to understand a technically complex system, and to help write the documentation for it. If you are interested in this opportunity, please email careers@hitcents.com for more information.

This is a fine example of “standing on the shoulders of giants” that ties the online to the old line. Perhaps someone would like to apply the same idea to a venerable collection of American poetry?
