NaNoWriMo – “The World Needs Your Novel”

crest-bda7b7a6e1b57bb9fb8ce9772b8faafbNaNoWriMo – National Novel Writing Month – starts next month in November. As English Majors, writing is a big part of all we do, even if we aren’t planning on writing novels professionally. Even if it isn’t something you considered beyond as a distraction while walking up the hill, the event is here to encourage creativity and free expression, even if it is purely for fun.

From the website: “National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing. On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30. Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought fleetingly about writing a novel.” NaNoWriMo.org

The goal of NaNoWriMo is to promote anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel to do so. Read up more on the program on the website to learn more.

The Bowling Green region will be hosting some events that they will post when November gets closer. In addition to this, the Warren County Public Library will be hosting a NaNoWriMo event in order to gather together a group of writers to meet and connect in order to act as support and accountability. The event kicks-off October 30th at the Bob Kirby Branch library (where Dr. Bell spoke about his latest novel), and will include two more sessions on Thursday the 13th and Thursday the 20th at 6 pm. A celebration, whether you do fifteen pages or 50,000 words, will be held on December 6th for all participants. This series is free to attend, but requires registration. To register, contact Jesse Knifley at 270-781-4882 or email at jessek@warrenpl.org.
