Welcome, English majors and minors! As you may have heard, our department is collaborating with the staff in Western’s Career Services Center and with businesses and organizations to create more internship opportunities for all of you. I will use this section of the blog to update everyone on these opportunities and to answer questions anyone has about internships. I welcome your comments and look forward to meeting more of you as the year progresses.

Many exciting internship possibilities are available through a program called The Washington Center in Washington, DC. I am currently corresponding with a staff member from The Washington Center who will be visiting Western’s campus this fall, and I will set up an opportunity for English majors and minors to meet with her as soon as I know her exact date here in Bowling Green.
Update: Ms. Tricia Martin plans to be on campus on Thursday, October 26 and has agreed to meet with students at 4 p.m. in Cherry Hall 124. Please RSVP to me at angela.jones@wku.edu if you plan to attend so that I can provide enough refreshments for everyone. You should have already received an email from Dr. Green with additional details.
In the meantime, though, I encourage you to browse The Washington Center’s website–this link will take you to the “prospective students” section, and its information should give you a good overview of the program.
